Rega Research P5 Turntable

The P5 is a turntable born from the ashes of the P25. The P5 celebrates over 30 years of Rega precision crafting specialist hi-fi in Britain. And subsequently combines everything that Rega stands for, which is simply, giving you the best product in terms of quality and style at the best possible price!

The P5 utilises idea's and engineering techniques used on our more expensive turntables; the aluminium surround, its complex CNC machined skeletal low mass micro-fibre plinth. Not to mention the new RB700 tonearm found on the P7.

The Glass platter of the P5 is hand crafted from floated plate glass 12mm in thickness. This makes for a superb platter material which provides stability and assists in the isolation of record information against other sounds (i.e. /knocking or vibrations) and also provides excellent speed stability; thus providing increased sonic enjoyment.

Upgrade power supply: The TT PSU.

The TT PSU is an optional upgrade power supply for the P5 turntable. It was constructed to help reproduce your music with greater efficacy, utilising technologies adapted from our flagship turntable the P9 and the P5's predecessor the P25.

The TT PSU can only be used with the P5 and P7 turntables. It is not compatible with any other Rega or manufacturers turntables.

The all new TT PSU and motor anti-vibration circuit is a combination of the innovative P9 power supply along with an improved P25 anti-vibration motor drive feeding the P9 24V AC synchronous motor. The TT PSU uses a remote "wall wart" transformer therefore keeping the sources of hum & noise well away from sensitive parts such as the cartridge and phono leads.

The compact TT PSU uses exactly the same high stability crystal locked low distortion sine wave generator as is used in the heart of the P9 power supply. This, along with an efficient drive amplifier fed from stabilised DC power supply, generates a 24Volt AC balanced signal of less than 0.05% distortion, which is completely unaffected by any changes in the mains/line voltage and conditions. This then drives the turntables anti-vibration circuit, which is situated beneath the turntable.

The drive voltage for the motor is run along the power lead to the turntable motor, which also carries the 33/45-RPM DC relay control voltage used to activate the anti-vibration circuit.

Coloured turntable mats!

It is still possible to customise the look of your Rega turntable using a variety of new coloured mats.
